The following locations will be divided by elements - starting with water.
Water
Southern Water Tribe - the home of Sokka and Katara. It had been previously raided by Fire Nation and during one the two lost their mother. This is also where they discovered where Aang was. First seen in episode one.
Northern Water Tribe - An ice city that has survived for 100 years of war. It was attacked by the Fire Nation at the end of season one and with the help of Aang and the others, they managed to maintain their city.
Air
Southern Air Temple - where Aang grew up. It was run by Air Monks and other children. It is where Aang found Momo. It's now deserted, having been run down by the Fire Nation.
Northern Air Temple - Sky high Nomad temple was discovered by Earth Kingdom refugees where the person in charge, called the Mechanist, turned the place into a haven where the people used gliders to travel as 'airbenders'.
Earth
Omashu - A city named after two lovers, Oma and Shu, who came from two warring towns. These two were the first Earthbenders. This city was ruled by Aang's friend, King Bumi but now has been taken by the Fire Nation and renamed New Ozai.
Ba Sing Se - The last holding place of the Earth Kingdom, run by its king, with his bear by his side, Bosco. At the end of season two, the great city was finally overtaken by the Fire Nation. Previously, Iroh attempted to capture the city but lost his son in the process and the attempt failed.
Fire
Avatar Roku's Temple - Located on a island on the edge of the Fire Nation, this is where Aang first communicated with Avatar Roku, his previous reincarnation. But when he and his friends were in trouble, Avatar Roku helped out, inadvertly destroying the Temple in the process.
