Aang
      Aang is the main protagonist in the story. He's a wily, clever twelve year old who was locked in a block of ice for a hundred years. He's also the Avatar - a person who can use all four elements to protect the world... [More?]

Aangy
      A nickname given to Aang by a little girl named Koko in episode four - The Warriors of Kyoshi, as a sign of affection.

Agni Kai
      Translated, a fire duel. Where two firebenders fight, often to the death, to show themselves as right and powerful. Some of the known Agni Kai are the ones between Zuko and Zhao and Zuko and Firelord Ozai.

Air
      One of the four primary elements, used by the race of people referred to Air Nomads. Unlike the other elements, all Nomads could Airbend, where the other elements were born to only a selected amount.

Air Ball
      A game that the young Airbenders would play. Revealed in episode three - The Southern Temple when Aang demostrated. The point of the game was to get the air ball in the opponent's post.

Airbender/Airbending
      Airbenders are called Air Nomads who can use the element Air to 'Airbend'. Related to Airbending is Cloudbending. Airbenders lived in the Southern/Northern/Western/Eastern Air Temples.

Air Glider
      Aang's staff that opens up at the top with wings to glide by the use of air currents. It serves as a way of locomotive and as a weapon. He uses the Air Glider as a protector in ways of fighting. He can also slam it, creating a stream of air to knock against a target.

Air Scooter
      A highly pressured, constant-moving ball of air; created by Aang himself as a way of movement to place to place.

Air Temple Sanctuary
      A place on the Southern Air Temple that Aang, when he turned sixteen, would've been brought in to 'meet someone'. Inside are statues, numerous in count, of all the previous Avatars.

Animal Guide
      A creature for the Avatar to help them in their lifetime - Roku had a Dragon, Aang has Appa.

Appa
      A Flying Bison, these are six-legged creatures with the ability to fly naturally. Given to young Airbenders as younglys themselves, they are considered the symbolism and first known Airbenders. The markings on the flying bison are used when a Airbender fufills all 36 lessons and gets arrow tattoos... [More?]

Avatar
      The spirit of the world given a human host, each incarnation gets closer to being human. The Avatar is the only one of its kind to bend all four elements and do other things that a normal bender could not. Each Avatar is reincarnated into the next cycle - the cycle would be Air, Water, Earth, Fire, then back to Air again.

Avatar State
      First seen in episode one when Aang awoke from the ice block. The Avatar State is where Aang can enter all of his past lives to learn all the tricks, tips, and abilities. He can also naturally fall into this state, to use those said abilities. It is important for Aang to reach the Avatar state; he is required to loose any connections that could otherwise hinder him in his ability to do so - for example, his feelings for Katara.

Azula
      Second born to Lady Ursa and Firelord Ozai, the granddaughter of the previous Firelord Azulon. She is her father's best and likely favorite, being the most like him in ruthlessness, strength, and almost heartless being.... [More?]
