Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon Divine
Chapter Four - The True Form of Sailor Moon
"I can´t believe it, Tendouko transformed before any one of us!" Kassidy bit her lip. "I mean, we´re her protectors!"
"We need to be more in-sync. Maybe more training?" Oceane suggested.
"No, we will awaken in time. Crisis tends to bring us out, we cannot hurry ourselves," Duscha said quietly. "Besides, Tendouko is still so confused."
"I never knew she had such thoughts. I thought we were best friends," Primavera sighed sadly. "I don´t understand her sometimes."
"Remember what our Deity told us? Lady Cosmos said that Tendouko would face an inner battle. One that Lady Cosmos herself started. She personally selected us because we would be the ones to be her pillars, to help her in her time of need."
"But why did she do it?" Kassidy stared out the window. "I don´t understand it at all!"
"We will in time," Primavera looked to Duscha who nodded.
The four sat in silence then, the warm air gathering around them.
"Well.." Kassidy said finally. "I´m hungry! Let´s go eat!"
"KASSIDY!"
‘I can´t believe I yelled like that..´ Tendouko was pacing the gardens, wringing her hands and then turning violently to return to pace. ‘I mean, what happened to me? What´s wrong? I never.. I never..´
She wished greatly that she had never heard her parents say anything. That maybe she wouldn´t feel so useless. What was so great about her now? She wasn´t a real princess, was she?
These thoughts had plagued her for a long time and though she knew she loved her sister, resentment and jealousy was always holding so strongly to her heart. She wished that she could be at least considered a senshi but no, even that didn´t belong to her.
"Tendouko?" Lady Serenity smiled. "You´ll wear down the ground," she said gently.
"Mama.." Tendouko looked away. "I was just thinking."
"I noticed," Lady Serenity grasped her daughter´s shoulder, pulling her carefully around to face her. "Would you like to talk?"
Tendouko stared up at her mother for a long pause before she opened her mouth.
"Your majesty!" A guard appeared behind the two. "The counselors are here for the discussions."
"Oh.." Lady Serenity sighed. "We´ll talk later," She kissed her daughter´s forehead lovingly before following the guard away.
"You believe in me, don´t you?" Tendouko asked in the empty air, bitterness filling her mouth.
She turned and jumped, a green cat sitting just a few feet in front of her. It bore a white sun symbol on its brow, as eyes opened to reveal brown eyes.
"Hi?" Tendouko tried.
It began to clean itself, seemingly ignoring her. "HEY!"
It looked up before stretching. "´ello," the soft, boyish voice purred out. "Name´s Elysium. Sent by the Golden Kingdom in good intentions."
"Uh...okay? Shouldn´t you be talking to the Queen or.."
"I was sent for you," Elysium began to wash his tail, pausing to speak. "I mean, I´m going to be your guide."
"Why?" She asked finally.
"Because."
"´Because´ isn´t an answer."
"It´ll have to do, now won´t it?"
"Are you related to Lune?"
"Nope," Elysium finished with his tail and stood up limberly. He shook himself vigorously. "Who´s Lune, anyways?" He peered up at her. "Humans are so tall.. even for a shorty like you."
"I am NOT short!"
"Sure, say whatever makes you feel better."
"Maybe I ought to rip that tail off and stuff it up your.."
"Elysium?" Sailor Cosmos had entered the gardens. She kept a smile on her face but her eyes flickered with a strange look before giving Tendouko a warm gaze. "Good afternoon, Tendouko-chan."
"H...hello, Cosmos-sama."
Her eyes widen slowly before she gave a small smile. "Has your mother taught you nothing of me?" She asked teasingly. Getting only a confused look, she chuckled. "Tendouko, I am your grandmother."
Tendouko gasped and jutted a finger at her. "YOU?!" She stared hard at the figure and face. "But you´re not old or anything."
"I have been in this age for a very long time," Sailor Cosmos looked away momentarily. "There are a few issues left for me to work through."
Elysium eyed the older woman. "How sad for you," he moved toward Tendouko. "So you´re the one, huh?"
"The one what?" Tendouko asked with a frown.
"The one who´s tied into it all," Elysium shrugged. "Can´t tell you much more but I´m here now and that´s all that matters." He settled back on his haunches. "So, how do you train?"
"I can´t train with a cat!" Tendouko protested to Sailor Cosmos who shook her head.
"Being a guide doesn´t mean training, you have to get to know each other," she told Elysium crisply. "I´m sure you were told that."
"I wasn´t told much," Elysium had a strange gleam in his eyes. "Not since something was stolen from us."
Sailor Cosmos straightened, her eyes darkening. "Stolen? Stolen? Oh, it was never stolen, it was his!"
"And you took it from his dead corpse!" Elysium howled. "You murderous.."
"That is enough!" Tendouko shouted over the two. Despite that both were clearly different species, they wanted at each other´s throats. "Why are you here?"
"Because I am your feline guide, descended to the one that holds in her the Golden Crystal," Elysium said darkly. "Something that.."
"Elysium.." Sailor Cosmos´s voice was unrecognizable. "Do not continue..." She hissed. Her normally calm and beautiful features was marred by the look of rage and pain, something that struck through Tendouko.
She watched the other woman turn and leave, her shoulders slumped slightly. "I don´t understand her.." Tendouko admitted. "But even I can see she´s in pain. Why do you reopen them?"
"Old feelings are hard to get rid of," Elysium looked molified. "I really did mean to come in good terms but there are things I´m still working through."
"For being so different, you two seem similar," Tendouko pointed out.
"I suppose," his tail flicked. "You going to introduce me to this Lune?"
Kousagi silently watched her parents discuss the topic that they had just brought up with her. "So what you´re saying is that I can decide what I want between the two options?" She interjected, startling them.
She mused over the options. She could either receive her training here as well as schooling or she could go to Earth, specifically, Crystal Tokyo, with all her friends to train. She wondered why the option to train elsewhere was open. She knew her parents were very worrisome about her and everything else so why this? She voiced this as the two glanced at each other before turning to their eldest daughter.
"You must realize that what happened at the coronation wasn´t a one-time thing. There have been things happening that we are not prepared for," Lady Serenity said carefully.
"With all of you still so young, it would be best for your safety if you were on Earth, making it harder to find you," King Helios added.
"Oh.. but then it´s just to make sure I´m safe? Not to learn to let me go or something?" Kousagi asked finally.
"Kousagi, we will never let go of you, like we never let go of our loved ones. No matter what distance, we will still be with each other."
"What about Tendouko?" Kousagi asked, seeing her sister in her minds eye and the anger she had witnessed. That had nearly broken her, seeing something so out of character of her normally kind sister.
‘But Tendouko´s changed and I don´t know why. I wish I did, I could help her..´ Kousagi thought painfully.
Her parents watched a mixture of emotions, mostly sadness and pain, go across their eldest daughter´s face. They glanced at each other and both knew that Kousagi was as baffled as they were to Tendouko´s behavior.
"She will have the choice to go as well," Lady Serenity said gently. "But I want you to keep both eyes on her. She´s very.. .sensitive as of late and I want her to be absolutely safe."
The critical tone startled Kousagi. Just a moment ago, they talked so lightly of her but something about Tendouko also bothered them. She wondered momentarily if they knew anything but didn´t have a chance to ask.
"Well, I´m packed!" Mako flounced in, beaming. Ami came in, dragging a large baggage as she huffed and puffed.
"I told you to let me get it!" Mako turned behind her, staring at the blue-haired.
"But you only say that!" Rei glared. "You say things but you don´t go through at all!"
"I do too!"
"Do not!"
"Why are you packed?" Kousagi cried out. "I haven´t even made up my mind!"
The three looked at her then at each other. "Oh.. nuts," Mako fell on her bottom with a drastic sigh. "I was so hopeful!"
"We can do as much here as anywhere else.." Ami began.
"Oh, quiet!" Rei snapped. "This is a momentous occasion but first Kousagi needs to come to a decision."
The three of them stared her down. "Momma!"
"Guys!" Mina was the first to protest. She came in without luggage and dressed in her senshi fuku.
"Uh..." Rei snorted behind her hand. "What have you been doing?"
"Extra training!" Mina puffed out her chest. "Since Tendouko´s gotten strong, I have to too!"
"But... Kousagi is our charge.." Ami said weakly.
"They´re both our Princesses! I would gladly lay my life for Tendouko and any other royalty! Any other person! For a land, for our waters, for the annoying little bugs that just won´t.."
"We get it!" The three girls shouted at her.
Kousagi was giggling behind her hands.
"It´s amazing how much you remind me of your namesake," Lady Serenity´s voice had them turn their gazes to her. "Minako was always so loyal, one of the reasons why she was the leader."
"Ah... I´m still leader, right?" Kousagi asked hopefully.
"Kousagi, do you want time to think about this?" King Helios asked gently.
"I... I do want to go.."
"Yea!" Came the cheer in the background.
"But.."
Protests came from the background.
"What about Tendouko?"
"So we´re related?" Tendouko was literally chasing Sailor Cosmos. "But.. how? When? Where?"
Sailor Cosmos blinked. "Grandmother.. that means your mother is my daughter."
"WOW!" Tendouko blinked and stepped back, only to hear a plainative scream of pain. "Elysium! I´m so sorry!"
"So am I.." He gasped, his eyes tearing. "It hurts..."
"Aww..." A large shadow fell over the two. "Excuse me but.. AUGH!"
She grabbed Elysium and turned to see Sailor Cosmos gone. "Oh..where did she go?"
Energy blared from her side view, a white hot intensity that momentarily blinded her. She saw Sailor Cosmos fighting wordlessly against the Shade, who looked nothing more than a black blob.
"Hey, transforming would be nice about now!" Elysium wheezed. She loosened her grip, allowing the cat to breathe.
"Tendouko!" Kousagi had arrived with the others who stared at the battle between Cosmos and the Shade. "Does she need help?"
"Of course she does! Just cause she can kick ass doesn´t mean she won´t appreciate it!" Mako raised her arm. "Jupiter Blossom Power, Make Up!"
"Mercury Hazy Power, Make Up!"
"Mars Flame Power, Make Up!"
And with Mina already as Parallel Venus, the four were grouped together.
"Come on, Kousagi!"
But Kousagi´s grip on her necklace reminded her that last time, it hadn´t worked for her. "I don´t.. I don´t know if I can.."
"Don´t be weak now!" Tendouko bit out. "Come on Kousagi, if I could transform, so can you!"
"Yea but.."
"Augh, why are you the one with the doubts? You´re the most accepted and loved person in this solar system!" Tendouko yelled.
Kousagi´s hand fell down. "Tendouko.. are you... jealous?"
Her sister´s eyes flared up. "OF YOU?"
Kousagi´s eyes welled up. "How can I fight when my own sister doesn´t believe in me?"
Tendouko stepped back. "I believe in you."
But the words were stained with something that cut through Kousagi, pain. "I promised.." She whispered to herself only to hear a scream. Tendouko moved to transform, the others moved to attack, but all of them were sucked into the black abyss that was the Shade.
"COSMOS!" Kousagi turned to look wildly around.
"If I were you.." Elysium said hurriedly, all in one breath. "I´d TRANSFORM NOW!"
"I don´t.. I can´t.."
"JUST DO IT!" Elysium howled in wild panic. But the two were swallowed up, Kousagi´s hesitation ruining any seemingly possible chance.
"I don´t want to.." Kousagi whispered in the dead air. "I mean.. even if one person doesn´t believe in me.."
"Kousagi!" Tendouko has pushed through before staring at her older sister. They stared in silence. "I do.. believe in you. It´s other things that I´m trying to figure out..."
"But you won´t talk to me about it!"
"How can I? You´re always busy, learning all that you can. What is one voice against the voices of our people? I can do this on my own and you can too! You´re strong enough, you´re brave and powerful and everything that should be right! You are the best!"
"Tendouko.." She reached out slowly only to suddenly grapple in the air as Tendouko was sucked away from her.
"No.. No, whatever pain she´s in, I won´t let you hurt her!" She shouted into the space.
"Moon Divine Power, Make Up!" The light gathered and stretched outward, tearing the beast to ribbons as she transformed. As the light grew stronger still, it hit the other Parallel senshi, causing their own fuku to change.
Tendouko could only gasp at the powers that ebbed from her sister. ‘This.. is the impossible powers of the Moon.. it´s so brilliant...´
Her eyes welled up. ‘But it´s so far from me..´
