Seed of Destiny
Part Two: Hellish Flames and A Flower Graces

Story settings; Firenze prepares upon the scene with a careful gaze while Daniel looks eagerly to know more about this mysterious woman who´s stolen his heart. But with the gathering mar trouble and the arrival of a strange woman dressed in a fuku. Could she be a legendary sailor senshi?

Opening
Daniel paces back and forth in agitation, waiting for his date to arrive. The coworkers whisper and smirk, thinking he´s pulling smoke from his ass when Firenze arrives, with a cautious air.

Daniel ran his hands through his hair for the umpteenth time. He wanted to yell at the gossipy women behind him but he was a gentleman, at least enough to pretend he didn´t hear what they were saying.
        It still hurt though.
"I can´t believe it! Can you?" A perky blonde grinned foolishly.
"I know I can´t," a snidely raven shook her head. The group was well dressed with enough cleavage to have a stampede of men at their beck and call. "What does he think he is? Cute?"
They snickered as his ears turned red. ‘Oh god, if Firenze doesn´t come soon, I´m going to..´
"Daniel?" A whisper upon the wind, it breezed over him and filled his senses before he flushed. "Am I on time?" Firenze asked hesitantly.
"Of course!" He looked down at her. This time, she dressed in a simple summer dress albeit her feet were still barren. It was a soft blue with golden yellow sunflowers sewn into the fabric. It blended with the soft skin and warm colored hair gently. The straps tied to the back of her neck and he was quick to notice, as he guided her toward the barbeque, that her back was nearly bare.
He swallowed noisily. "Ah, I´m so glad you could make it!" His voice squeaked.
She smiled at him. "I am on time, yes?"
"Yes, yes!" He grinned happily. He turned to stare the girls down, who were staring with wide eyes filled with astonishment.
As he moved deeper into the throng of people, Firenze edged closer, her eyes shifting in the group nervously.
        "Firenze?"
"It´s so crowded. There is no air to breathe," she muttered, more to herself.
"Hey there, Enid! Who´s the chick?" An overweight man with a balding scalp of dull black hair thudded over. He snorted at the tiny vision of the woman in front of him. "A hippie? Where are your shoes?" He laughed noisily.
Firenze winced, as if the sound of his laughter hurt her ears. "I like to feel the ground."
"I´ll bet, flower child!" He laughed louder. "You certainly can pick them, Enid!"
The man lumbered away before throwing over his shoulder. "Oh, that´s right, this is the first, huh?" The man boomed out his condescending laughter.
Daniel glared at his back in rage but knew he didn´t have the courage to make a sound of protest. "I´m so, so.."
She was watching the retreating back with a sad gaze. "I am glad that you are not like that. It would be painful to be that cruel, wouldn´t it?"
        "I.. uh, yea."
"Perhaps we can sit underneath shade? I´m a little warm."
"Sure! In fact, you go sit over there," he pointed to an tall oak tree, with the limbs jutting far enough to shade at least twenty people. "And I´ll get us something to drink."
"Thank you, water would be nice."
He rubbed the back of his neck. "Stupid prick," he muttered to himself. He retrieved a cola for himself and a water bottle for her.
He wanted to scream after a moment. She was surrounded by several of his female coworkers, poised as if to scoop up whatever she said that could be possibly juicy.
She looked like a cornered mouse, her eyes wide and her face paling as the group inched the more closer.
"EXCUSE ME LADIES!" He knew he said it a little too loud when they all jumped. "I believe we were looking for alone time." He waved them off pompously.
"They´re like insects," The disgust in Firenze´s voice was obvious. "I´ve seen so many like them where I´m from.." She paused for a moment. "Are people always so dependent on what one does and says?"
"Usually it´s just yourself but yea, if you speak for a whole group, that´s how it works." He handed her the bottle.
"I see. But then, how do you become independent?" She fingered the bottle before shaking it worriedly. "It won´t run."
"You need to twist the top off."
She attempted too but she stopped after a moment. "It won´t run still."
"It doesn´t run, Firenze. Here," he smiled as she offered the bottle. He skillfully, at least to her eyes, twisted the cap off. "And just pour."
She did so and in seconds, all that remained was a empty bottle. She handed him the shell. "It tastes a bit strange."
"It´s bottled water. It says pure," he studied the wrapping. "But it probably isn´t true or maybe you´re just tasting the bottle itself."
"Well, thank you anyways for your kindness."
He studied the bottle, feeling stupid for some inane reason. "Shall we sit?" He asked weakly.
Sitting on the grass, he watched her settle in eagle style and her eyes drift partially closed.
"So, where are you from, Firenze?"
"Oh, I am from far away."
"Really? Which far away planet? One of the moons of Jupiter?"
        "Even farther."
"Wow, you traveled that far for here?"
        "I was looking for something.."
        "What was it?"
"Something important but I´m not sure if I can find it. I don´t know what things are here and  I don´t think I can understand either. It´s very confusing." She played with the grass shyly. "Tell me, you have family and love, right?"
He thought of his loudmouth mother who usually ended up right to begin with, and his old man who still worked in the farmer market. "Well, if parents count, yea. I have family and I know they love me."
"What is love like then?" She asked him, staring down still.
"Love... uh... it depends really on the circumstances."
        "What circumstances?"
"Well, there´s the love of family, a platonic relationship between relatives and knowing that we can rely on each other. And there´s the love between men and women."
He eyed her but she was watching the group move in their ways. "I never knew of men before. Not like these people. Where I´m from, they are religious, zealous, and demanding."
"Ah, well, that´s not really all the different from us." He admitted.
        "But you´re nothing like that."
        "I´m not?" He turned red.
"You don´t look at me, you see me. You hear me and answer. You give me a reason to be," she looked up at him with a tearful gaze. "I feel pain when I see you and watch how you treat me. You are a sweet and beautiful rose out of all of these thorns."
She waved agitatedly. "These people know nothing of beauty save the appearance. What matters is seeing within and feeling how you are one with the earth and each other. Is all of this kind closed off from each other?"
"Can´t help it," he looked upward. "With the Wars still thriving, we have to protect what else we can manage and ourselves."
"Wars?"         "The Wars of Good and Evil, the Sailor Wars."
Her eyes widened. "I know of that. I feel it in the winds. That poor blue crystal," her eyes gazed upward. He followed her gaze with the same wistful look.
"Yes, but we can´t give up," he spoke softly, gently. "We have to believe in life still."
"Hey!" Daniel started. He looked up to see his boss grinning at him. The man was dark skinned, with dark hair and eyes, and even in the blistering heat, still wore a suit. Daniel mindlessly wondered what would happen if he didn´t wear that suit. "We´re starting the bonfire!"
"Sure thing, boss." Daniel grinned. "You´ll love this!"
They neared closer and Daniel carefully maneuvered Firenze and himself to the front.
"To a beautiful summer!" His boss cheered as the others shouted. "It´s time for the summer rush!"
He lit a match and tossed it in. Flames blazed upward, large and wild.
Daniel felt as if his arm had been ripped out. Firenze had pulled away sharply and was running in fear. She disappeared into the small batch of trees.
Daniel attempted to follow but his coworkers were clapping his shoulder, all eager for the fire to continue on. "Firenze!"
A sharp and freezing wind picked up, chilling the fire to dull embers. He turned slowly, as if in slow motion, his heart in his throat.
Everyone screamed and shattered, running all amuck to flee from the strange flying creature. Not too far from a dragon, it was horribly frightening, with a too long neck, horned ornaments jutting out as a forked tongue lashed out painfully.
The world was in shambles in moments. People were being hit from here to there as Daniel fell backwards to avoid the spiny tail of the beast. ‘A youma..´ His terrified thoughts haunted him. He had only heard of these beasts, never having been in sight of them. It was supposed to be drawn by senshi, warriors. He felt, for certain, that none of his coworkers were of the like.
"Zinnia Seed Flourish!" What looked like red gems to Daniel surrounded him before turning into hot red flowers. He was dragged up and into the forest by a slender hand.
"Run!" The strange looking woman pulled, agitatedly. "Please, Daniel!"
His mind went numb. A soldier knew who he was? But how?
She turned as the trees were blown away by the whips of the driven winds caused by the wings. The inhumane scream of the creature echoed as the senshi grasped her ears in pain.
It dove in closer, breaking more of the trees. The girl watched, horror and pain written on her face. "Stop! You´re killing them!"
She was rooted, too stunned as the earth around her screamed out in pain. Its pain soaked in her veins, her head shaking violently back and forth. "STOP IT!"
The monstrous dragon´s mouth opened and fire blazed out. She went flying backwards, screaming in terror. She staggered to her feet, tears streaking down her face.
"Fire.. oh, god.. it hurts..." She wrapped arms around her as she looked up at the creature. It opened its mouth and sent out another blaze.
She felt herself fall to the side. "Stop it!" Daniel´s arms wrapped around her tightly. "Please, don´t be afraid! People like you are strong!"
"But for what purpose do I stand?"
"For our future, for helping us survive. Do you want others to suffer?"
"But I suffer.." Her eyes looked up with newly formed tears.
His heart contracted painfully. "I will stand by you then, so you won´t be alone..."
"Oh, Daniel.." As the beast struggled to get rid of the trees surrounding the two, she leaned in with a gentle touch of warmth.
Dimly, he was aware of a power, deep in his breast as her lips tingled with his. ‘I know this light...´
She pushed away from him, marching toward the beast with renewed determination.
"Creeper Vines!" The trees ripped into vines, rapidly growing to snake upward to capture the monster. With little effort, it was plastered to the ground as more and more vines swept over it. The thorns dug in painfully, closing in tighter and tighter.
There was a snap and then the vines dropped together into the center, as if whatever it held was now completely gone. The wind blew gently as a fine dust filtered in the air before disappearing altogether.
Daniel got a good look at the soldier. With a twisted metal tiara wrapped all the way around her head and visible, the centered crimson red diamond glittered upon her brow. Her earrings were heavy looking and long, reaching nearly to the bottom of her neck. They started out the same with a silver small stud, a Tuscan red, larger gem, two silver, small round gems, a Tuscan red diamond, a silver small round gem, and then in the left ear ended with a crimson red crescent moon facing east, and the right ear ended with a crimson red star. At the bottoms of both of these jewels were a single silver round gem.
Her choker was much like a heavy necklace. With a crimson red, square clipped chain. In the center, just below her neckline settled a crimson red square shaped diamond, with pointed triangular sides of silver metal. Her collar was a Tuscan red and transparent. It held her brooch, a crimson red six pointed, narrow star outlined in silver. More triangular points jutted out  underneath at each inward V.
Her bodice was a crimson red tube top, the bottom outlined in a silver rim. The front of her person, from the insides of her breasts was a crimson red fabric in place of the crimson red. Attached from the far sides to the cover her back, down to the back of her knees was a crimson red, transparent fabric. On her left arm was a spiral, metal, silver band that curled twice around her forearm. At the wrist was a bracelet, made of circlets and diamonds of silver and crimson red. On her right hand was a similar spiral band of silver, twice wrapped around her wrist, only spiraling up instead of down like the one on her upper arm.
She wore a slightly loose flat skirt, that went downward without a crease. The bottom was slightly torn looking. It was colored in fading colors; from the top it started with Tuscan red, fading into dark brown and then into the edges which were light dark brown. She wore a dark brown belt with an oval clip, in the shape of a Q but with the end tip going inside. The last bit of the belt was a rounded point, jutting out only a few inches from the clip. Her shoes were made of silver metal and in eerie similarity to vines. It opened on the tops of her feet, encasing a Tuscan red, oval gem before dipping to the heels to cover it in a heelless shoe before climbing back up the ankles like creeping vines with thorns.
What really got him was what was at the stomach. She wore a silver ring in her navel, that strangely fascinated him. He probably had better things to think about as he visibly shook himself.
        "You.. who are you?"
"I am the flower of rejuvenation, of the blood of Zinnia´s purest energy; I am known as Sailor Ruby Thorn."
She turned toward the fallen trees. "So many destroyed.."
"So like how your race is being, right, Daniel?" She turned back toward him and he finally realized it. He didn´t know why he didn´t get it but it hit like a ton of bricks.
        "Firenze?"
"I only wanted to find the greatest source of power. In order to stop my sacrifice, I must gather the strongest." She turned away.
"So.. so you didn´t care about the people? We could´ve been seriously hurt!"
"I didn´t want to care," came the soft reply, much like the soft wind that he felt. He shook his head angrily. "When no one else cared for me?"
He stilled, watching her back. "Firenze?"
"You saw me for who I was," her head swiveled back slowly, her face covered in tears. "My Daniel, if you ever forgive me, find me in the Botanical Gardens.."
She disappeared into the earth, fading away as if she was nothing more than that, nature.
